In a joint cooperation between the handicrafts deputy of Cultural Heritage Organization and Persian Carpet National Center, attempts have been underway to internationally register the city of Tabriz as the “carpet creative city”.
Tabrizi carpet has already been recorded in the International Organization of Moral Ownership with the help of Persian Carpet National Center; yet, now considering the capacities of Handicrafts International Council which provides opportunities for global registration of Iranian artistic and cultural achievements and capabilities, the city is going to be registered as the Carpet Creative City as well.
Meanwhile, accompanied by Tabriz Provincial Government, Cultural Heritage General Office, Organization of Industries, Mines and Commerce in East Azerbaijan as well as Tabriz Islamic Art University, head of the Asia and Oceania region of Handicrafts International Council had a trip to Tabriz in order to get better acquainted with the city’s special capacities for handmade carpet.
Torreh has high hopes that the visit and the efforts can result in the international registration of Tabriz as the Carpet Creative City, and the corresponding cooperation will turn out to be a model for further joint attempts in favor of Persian carpet.
